Hanging a single bar style Gate to rear of posts

The most popular way to hang a single bar style gate

To hang a single gate on the back of posts or pillars, measure the gate and minus 60mm, this gives you the gap size needed between posts or pillars or measure the gap and add 60mm, this gives you the size of the gate needed, the gate will swing open one way. We reccomend a minimum of 160mm x 160mm Posts.

Hinge type: Adjustable hinge set with top hook to bolt & bottom hook to drive or hooks on plates, rising hinges can also be used if needed.

Latch type: The self catching auto latch, the hunting type catch, both of which can be padlocked or the spring catch are ideal for regular pedestrian use, and the where livestock may be kept with regular access by people the self catching animal safety latch is a good option, this can be padlocked

Fasteners:  To compliment the latch and add extra security where livestock are concerned use either a safety gate hook and eye, Northumberland fastener or the New zealand fastener.

Hanging a single bar style Gate between Posts

To hang a single gate between posts or pillars, measure the the gate and add 165mm, this gives you the gap size needed between posts or pillars, or measure the gap and minus 165mm, this gives you the size of the gate needed the gate will swing open both ways. We reccomend a minimum of 160mm x 160mm Posts.

Hinge type: Adjustable hinge set with top hook to bolt & bottom hook to drive or hooks on plates, rising hinges can also be used if needed.

Latch type: Shoot bolt, this can be padlocked

The most popular way to hang a pair of bar style gate

To hang a pair of gates on the back of posts or pillars, measure the gates and minus 40mm, this gives you the gap size needed between posts or pillars or measure the gap and add 40mm, divide by two this gives you the size of the gates needed, calculation can be made to make the two gates different sizes than each other the gates will swing open one way. We reccomend a minimum of 160mm x 160mm Posts.

Hinge type: Adjustable hinge set with top hook to bolt & bottom hook to drive or hooks on plates, rising hinges can also be used if needed.

Latch type: A centre throw with a drop bolt is the usual method of keeping the gates closed, we can supply a centre throw that can be padlocked.
